Came across this sketch that I did this summer and never finished. So there you go little crazy motorcycle inspired by the Tron bike. Had bunch of jpeg's of different stages saved so I put them together to see how it evolved.

Yesterday was a busy day: studio presentation and graduation. All in one day - crazy. Especially after sleepless night. It was great regardless. So here are my presentation boards and couple pictures from the presentation. Fun project for a last semester. Really wanted to do a clay model so did it on my own at home. Awesome experience working with clay.

Just Photoshop at this point. Moving to alias with the bigger one. Need to figure out transition of the spokes into the rim. Like undercut surfaces inside of the spokes. Will play with details in Alias.

I think this is my Final submission. I already did one final before the dead line extension. But since I had more time to work on the project seemed stupid not to use extra time to improve it so I did. Slightly changed some details, added wheels. Since I modeled wheels in alias that wasn't very hard to do))) Made tail lamps on the rear view look more real and added end-user))) Now will wait for the judges' call. Have to admit I don't have a very good record at winning contests but one can always hope))) Was a very good project for me regardless.
Will be interesting to see whom they will pick. Initial rules suggested that you have to be active the entire time of the contest updating your work and responding to mentor's suggestions. I wonder what they will do since many very cool projects were submitted at the very end without any chance for changes. Will see...

Totally forgot about those. Did them for a fun interior class that I took last year. That red door has red blood cells on it. Seems to work. Even made some felt with my own hands in that class. Still have it somewhere at home. Here is some more.

Interesting midterm class. Presented my Racing Ferrari progress. I think it went well. This doodle started in class during entertaining discussion about how relative the green movement really is. Something that seems so good has bad side effects that people prefer to ignore when the could outweigh benefits. But the bottom line is that population of the world keeps growing so it is only going to get...better!

Not 100% satisfied so played some more with the hood and fascia trying to match it better to the side and rear surfaces. Like 2 and 1 better than what I had before. Feels more modern. Have a though about making grill out of glass could be cool but just a thought at this point...

Buick! redid earlier sketch front 3/4. Extended the wheelbase to a more realistic for a sedan added wheels ,changed little things like DLO, rear view mirrors. Rear sketch is new. I still have time left until the end of the month so I wonder whether I should attempt to build a model or continue with the sketches...not sure. On one hand nice model would look awesome at the same time I could sketch more details like open the doors show some things inside...

Some more progress on the racing Ferrari. Finally moved to Alias. Happy with the proportions at this point but definitely needs a lot of work. I need to start making connection between design and bio-algae-crazy racetrack concept.

After yesterday class picked two favorite side views from the last posted page and tried combine them into one...literally. Also shortened the wheelbase. Overall gesture is still there and this wheelbase seems more reasonable. Bottom sketch is my favorite. I like the cleanness of the side with a strong zigzag line and interesting opening by the back wheel...

This is a new project I'm working on: race car. We were given a freedom to pick our own type of the race car and care concept. My idea revolves around algae where algae farm in the center of the track provides fuel and possibly resin for the exterior plastic. Brand for the race car I picked Ferrari. Seems like Ferrari could do something like that considering their size and presence.

Finally, had a chance to sort some of the stuff I did during my internship at Mercury. Had good time learned a lot. Have to say that outboards are very interesting. This is a very unusually shaped product that never exists by itself beyond the showroom floor and even then shown attached to some transoms. Also it obviously has to convey forward motion which could be difficult considering all the limitations. All in all, I find outboards an interesting combination of styling and function loaded product design.

Ok...I am continuing to think about Buick Connoisseur project. I did interior and decided to continue the project with the exterior for it. The whole thing was started by cardesignnews/GM design contest at http://www.cardesigncontest.com phase1 interior and phase 2 exterior.
Initially I started with the idea that crossover is clear choice considering outdoor type of the interior.
Then after some research and sketching I changed to to a sedan vision as being more true to Buick brand and more appealing to me. At this point I don't have any clear direction. contiunueing to think about it and sketching. On these pages I assembled what I sketched so far and some inspirations. I am definitely having fun with the Story)))

Finally submitted my crazy entry for local motors Terra Prix 2085 competition. Was fun working on it at night after work at work))) interesting experience. I think I was strongly inspired by motorcycles even though I'm not sure if it comes across in the end. Fire ants came later when I read an article in Popular Science about fire ants locking onto each other to form almost fabric that can float. I think this opens a lot of possibilities even in architecture. I had tons of ideas that have not used just to simplify the whole concept. Wanted to make cabin of the truck eject in case of emergence. Also would have been cool to show inflatable wings collapse. Actually there is a company that is already playing with this idea. Oh yeh, living module! I wish I had more time to explore that. Definitively ran out of time. So anyway that was fun and excellent summer project.

Watched Priest yesterday. Unfortunately not in 3D but still enjoyed it especially crazy bike action. Not a big fan of the huge fake turbine but really nice proportions and stance. Found article on wired magazine about the build of those bikes by Cinema Vehicle Services and Ghostlight . Pretty cool. Full article here

Spent some time at Air Venture Museum in Oshkosh. Home of the biggest AeroShow and less that half hour away from me.Very cool collection. I sketched a couple. Have to say it was challenging because of the proportions. there is something that bothers me about Mustang but I can not figure it out. I forgot the name of the second one. It's an experimental airplane Designed by Rutan, i believe. Same guy that designed space ship one. Took me a few tries to figure out where was the front)))

I've been thinking for a while about redesigning my Tlingit litle pick-up truck. Mostly front end and interior. Initialy sliding upwards door was in the middle. I moved it to the right side. I figured this would give better access to the interior besides most of the time there will be only one person in the vehicle.

Here is a crazy bike idea from my universe to yours. Inspired by ocean creatures and insane machines. The whole thing was started by Jon and Vaughan at We Draw Cars blog. I liked the idea and had some time so I played with the idea.
Those screw drives seems to be very efficient and versatile. I'm surprised they are not being used considering how long ago they were invented. I thought it would be so much fun to blast through the snow and whatever on this beast.

I've been itching to sketch this Lancia Flaminia 2500 Sport Zagato. Initial idea was to do Photoshop rendering. I started with prismacolor pencil but now I like it so much I am not sure I want to do Photoshop. Funny how that works.

Couple dirty sketches. For the second one I used this brush that has like a little plastic bottle built into it. You can fill it up with water or mixture of water and ink. That's what I do. This way you have a watercolors with you all the time and it's very easy to use. thanks Clyde...
